Kimberly-Clark Corp. spent $150 million to build a new $150 million gas-fired cogeneration plant at its Chester mill, which produces Scott bathroom tissue. The plant replaces a coal-fired power plant and reduces the site’s greenhouse gas emissions by about 50%. The Chester mill makes a single product: Scott-1000 single ply bathroom tissue. The plant produces 2 million rolls of toilet paper a day, and has been very busy during the pandemic because of high demand for personal paper products.
