Reworld™, a leader in sustainable waste solutions and the operator of Reworld™ Delaware Valley, a Thermomechanical Treatment Facility (TTF) in Chester hosted a free electronics recycling event at Upland County Park, providing Delaware County residents with an accessible, cost-free solution to drop off electronics waste (e-waste) that would otherwise incur recycling fees. The event on November 13, 2024 served as a fundraiser for the local STEM Academy at Showalter.

On Monday Reworld™  presented a check for $20,000 to support the STEM Academy’s students.

“A core value at Reworld™ is being a good neighbor to the communities we serve, especially when we can provide accessible recycling solutions and support local education at the same time,” said Brittany Addison, manager of community outreach at Reworld™. “With e-waste being one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, this initiative helped Delaware County residents recycle responsibly and show their support for Chester’s future via the STEM Academy.”

More than 400 residents registered for the recycling event and dropped off 22,000 pounds of e-waste for Reworld™ to transport to its facility in Philadelphia. There it responsibly processes and returns raw materials to the manufacturing ecosystem. In planning the event, Reworld™ pledged a $15,000 donation to the STEM Academy and another $5,000 if the weight of e-waste exceeded 15,000 pounds.

“As a result of the support from Reworld™, STEM Academy students will have expanded learning opportunities and experiences outside the classroom,” said Ronald Brown, principal of the STEM Academy at Showalter. “We are grateful for their partnership and commitment to our school and community.”

This initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable waste processing and community support, building on a recently launched partnership with the Goodwill Keystone Area to collect and recycle the community’s e-waste for free across 22 counties in central and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Reworld™ hosted the e-waste collection event in partnership with the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC).
