Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, co-chair of the House Problem Solvers Caucus, was found to be the most bipartisan Republican in 2024, according to The Hill.
According to The Hill, Fitzpatrick, who is the only Republican in among the Delaware Valley congressional delegation, voted with the Democrats 28.1 percent in 2024.
The affable GOPer, who represents all of Bucks County and a sliver of Montgomery County, is a well-known moderate politician. The Hill points out Fitzpatrick is one of only three Republicans who represent a district won by Democrat Kamala Harris in the last presidential election. And voters elected him to his fifth term in 2024.
“Congressman Fitzpatrick understands the key to success in the 1st Congressional District,” said Christopher Nicholas, founder of Eagle Consulting Group, a longtime Republican consultant who grew up in Bucks County. “This is neither the first, nor last, time he will be the most bipartisan member of the House.”
In 2023, Fivethirtyeight found that Fitzpatrick voted against former President Biden (D) 70 percent of the time and gave him a D+.
Moderation is nothing new for Fitzpatrick.
In 2020, he was honored by the United States Chamber of Commerce for his leadership and bipartisanship with two awards, the Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award and the Jefferson-Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship. These awards are given to members of Congress who demonstrate bipartisan leadership.
But some of his more conservative constituents chafe.
Last year, Fitzpatrick faced a primary challenge from prominent right-to-lifer Mark Houck, who he handily defeated.
With the House so evenly divided—218 Republicans to 215 Democrats—moderates like Fitzpatrick have more power than they might otherwise wield. A case in point is President Trump’s recent meeting with Fitzpatrick and two other moderate congressmen to schmooze and woo them on board with his agenda.
