The Bridgeport Borough Police Department and the Race for Peace Committee will host their National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bridgeport Borough Hall, located at 63 West Fourth Street, Bridgeport.
The 2025 Bridgeport Night Out event is planned to be a fun-filled event. The borough, along with the Race for Peace organization, hopes to see community members there to make this year’s Night Out bigger and better than ever.
There will be free entry, raffles, live music, games, a K-9 Unit demonstration, and more will be at the Night Out. The National Night Out strengthens the bonds between residents and law enforcement, creating positive interactions and fostering trust. National Night Out is also an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
“Every National Night Out that is hosted throughout the surrounding counties is good for community engagement and development. Each year, the night out is held. It has good vibes even since I was young enough to remember. The engagement part is neighbors coming together for block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and other events to foster a sense of community on the day of or in addition to a night out. The event encourages residents to spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement, fostering positive relationships and promoting community safety,” said RFPC Activist/Advocate Alim Howell.
“Our organization, Race for Peace, likes to have a variety of events that can connect the community members with local law enforcement officers who are participating and collaborating with our group. Different events display different outcomes and draw attention in a positive way, helping citizens learn about our Race for Peace Committee events. Every police department we work with has a unique role in putting on their event. We appreciate being part of the events too,” RFPC Founder Andrew Howell said.
“I like how Bridgeport Police Chief Todd Bereda is really involved with community outreach in his Borough. It’s nice to see police truly engaged with the people in the community, no matter who they are. That helps and goes a long way towards improving policing in our society. It can be demonstrated in the county and travel towards our city of Philadelphia. If more top-ranking police officers were that influenced to among who they are patrolling around then it can help with decreasing the negative impacts of crime. Because overall this event brings together community groups, businesses, law enforcement agencies, and local government officials to work together towards a common goal of crime and drug prevention,” said Urban Navigation Founder Don Jackson.
Located in Montgomery County along the Schuylkill River, Bridgeport Borough is a town of about 5,000 residents between the county seat of Norristown and the commercial hub, King of Prussia.
Tbridgeport residents take pride in having an excellent school district, affordable housing, easy access to public transit, a walkable downtown, and many community events, including the National Night Out.
